*A Georgian couple are facing murder charges after exacting corporal punishment on their 8-year old son which resulted in his death. The couple belong to the Remnant Fellowship Church, which preaches strict disciplinarianism and fad dieting, and when their son would not join them in praying during an online church service, they locked him in a small wicker box and secured it fast with electrical cord. The boy died from asphyxiation . . . and we are all left to muse on the wonders of magical thinking. (Via
